Protect your Tundra's cranking battery from being drained down by your aftermarket accessories. Fits 2007-2021 Toyota Tundra. Requires 2 identical Group 25 size batteries, sold separately.

Details:

  • Completely pre-wired out of the box
  • Batteries sold separately. Matching Group 25 batteries are required.
  • Boost switch included - jump start your vehicle off your second battery
  • Power and Ground bus bars make it easy to connect accessories
  • Smart Isolator automatically handles all charging functions
  • Interface port for the G Screen monitoring system
  • Best quality wires, tin-plated copper connectors, and sealed heat shrink tubing
  • Powder coated for durability
  • Proudly made in the USA
  • Sold As A Kit

The top cover plate has several innovative features in a simple package. All of the wiring has already been done for you, and the smart isolator comes pre-installed. The welded gussets on top have holes with grommets to route the wires directly to the correct battery post, so there's no guess work involved to make the connections. High quality battery terminal connectors are crimped to the flexible 2 gauge wire connecting the batteries together. With all the wiring integrated into the top plate, servicing your batteries has never been easier. Simply pull the terminals off the battery posts, remove the 4 bolts securing the lid, and all the wiring can be lifted up and out of the way to service your batteries when necessary.

The included smart isolator gives you automatic control of all the charging functions with no interaction required.

Here's how it works:

  • When both your batteries are fully charged at 13.2 volts, they are automatically connected and are charged at the same time
  • When you park and turn off the engine, but continue to use accessories such as lights or the stereo or a CB, both batteries begin to drain down
  • When your main cranking battery reaches 12.7 volts, the smart isolator separates the batteries, so that your cranking battery will have enough power to start the engine. The second battery continues to power your accessories for as long as it will last
  • After you crank the vehicle, your main cranking battery will be charged up to 13.2 volts first, and then the isolator will begin charging your accessory battery. By only charging one battery at a time, your alternator is protected from excessive strain

What if your cranking battery is somehow drained down too low to be able to start the vehicle? We have a solution for that.

  • Press the Start Boost button and the isolator will connect both batteries together for 1 minute, acting like built-in jumper cables to jump start your engine off your accessory battery
  • As long as the accessory battery has enough power, you'll be able to start your vehicle instead of being stranded with a dead battery!
  • The alternator will charge both batteries for 1 minute, then switches back over to automatic mode to reduce the strain on your alternator

Also includes high amp power and ground bus bars. The bus bars are already prewired to the accessory battery. Now you can quickly and easily connect your winch, lights, amplifiers, and lots more while keeping the wiring neat and orderly. Your winch or other high-amp accessories go onto the large center post on the bus bars, and all your other accessories go directly to the smaller screw terminals on the bus bars.

Battery Options:

  • Any Group 25 size battery will fit our tray (Note the stock battery is not compatible)
  • We currently offer the Full River FT750-25, an excellent battery that has 750CCA (cold cranking amps) and 64aH (amp hours) of reserve capacity
  • The Odyssey Performance Series ODP-AGM25 battery is also available for purchase through our site, boasting 675CCA and 59aH of reserve capacity
  • Note: Batteries ordered through Genesis Offroad will ship separately
  • Both batteries must be the same physical size for the top lid to securely hold them in place

Smart Isolator:

Our dual battery kit comes with a smart isolator and solenoid rated to handle a continuous 200 amps of current flowing through it. It will handle current spikes of up to 750 amps for up to 30 seconds.

Need to keep a closer eye on your batteries? Check out our dual battery monitoring system - the G Screen .

  • Voltage levels for each battery
  • Remote status indicator
  • Background color changes based on battery status
  • Remote boost button
  • Completely prewired for you!

Already know you want one? Simply add it from the options above, or see more details on theG Screen product page first.

Optional ring terminals

Are you planning on connecting some accessories to the power & ground bus bars? We offer this convenient 10-pack of high quality, adhesive-lined heat shrink ring terminals. These are much better quality than the cheap ring terminals at the auto parts stores. Used with 16-14ga wire - the most common size for low amperage accessories like LED lights, CB, etc. Add a pack to your order from the options above.

Impressive Quality

I haven't installed the kit yet. My plans have changed and I'm not certain if I'm going to. But I was very impressed when I received the kit and took a look at it. I was pleased with the quality and overall appearance of the product.

Great product easy install only issue on a 2016 Tundra TRD PRO I had to modify the Factory Positive cable it would angle correctly on the battery. No issues initially just used some heavy 0 black wire but purchased a smaller red to make the fitting.

Buyer beware

Well I've had this since 2018. Have referred many people it. I have had it in the shop twice for a terrible rattel. Said the fixed it took it in the second time 5hey had to weld a plate into the fender well to fix it. Now my Odyssey starting battery failed, it is under warranty but they have discontinued that battery and replaced it with a lower Cold cranking amp battery. Which is what I need in Minnesota. So I've got about $1500 into this thing at this point. What am I supposed to do. Was told the Odyssey batteries where the way to go. Until they can get a better battery manufacture and mounting system buyer beware! Can't give zero stars.

Dual battery

Great packaging and good quality materials used. Installation for 2012 tundra was a tight fit getting tray to fit smoothly. Instructions were good and fairly detailed. Not for the novice or people who lack tools. Pushing the fuse box back not as easy. Can't speak to the ability to start car when battery drains. But in the event I need it, I think it'll do the job. Used 2 optima red tops since that is all I can get in Hawai'i.

Double check! Fit then buy.

I bought the kit and then while traveling home from a work trip found some group 25 batteries on sale at a small shop... overstocks. Directions say any group 25 battery, which is not true. These ones were too tall to fit in the carriage and I couldn't return them. Second set I tried wouldn't fit either but luckily they are on adjustable stands so I just removed the stand and milled a bracket to space them correctly. The next problem arose when the directions said use the included parts to install the nutserts... Well the kit is suppose to come with a grade 8 washed and it didn't. A simple grade 5 (maybe) washer was sent. Luckily I had one of similar size on hand. I can only imagine the problems that would have arose if I had tried to use it. So in the spirit of trying I did and as I suppected it folded up around the grade 8 bolt and pushed the socket off so I used vicegrips to free it and used the grade 8 washer. I wired my spod and accessories as instructed, I sure hope the rest of the instructions are more accurate than the initial. I will keep my eye on it for fit and shift but it seems sturdy for now. I was really excited about the product but now I'm wary knowing they can't put the installation instructions or kit together properly.

2021 tundra

Install took a little longer than anticipated, but was fairly straightforward. Only complaint on the install was that the bit size needed was not a super common size and I had to buy a larger drill index to get the one I needed. Group 25 batteries seem difficult to find in local shops. I ended up using a red top optima and a yellow top optima. I've only had it installed for a week, but it seems to be doing fine. First accessory is attached and it is functioning perfectly. At this point, I'm very satisfied.

Tundra dual battery setup

Bought my 2016 tundra 4x4 last year for fun off-roading trips with my family. It had a brand new battery installed at that time from the dealer. I don't drive it much, but the battery has died on me twice when I did go to use it. I do have some lights, an alarm and other things hooked up. This kit fits very nicely! Looks great and I didn't have to spend the time researching all the little components and cutting custom lengths of cable to make it work. The install was fairly easy, I did cut the front right foot off my fuse bos to get a better fit due to my after market headlights. So far, so good. I fully charged both odyssey batteries before connecting them, ran the truck around town that day and then let it sit for 2 weeks like usual. It fired right up when I went to start it. Thinking about adding the little display so I can see the exact voltage without having to pop open the hood every time. Thanks Genesis offroad!

Q: I noticed you site has Odyssey for sale, more than one model line. For a Tundra, you do not offer the extreme version? Is there a technical reason? Does it not fit? To powerful in this application?

A: Odyssey actually discontinued their Extreme Series in the Group 25 size back in July 2020, and replaced it with a new Performance Series Group 25. However, they do still make the Extreme Series Group 34 which is popular for our Jeep JK, Tacoma, and Universal kits.

Q: Can I use optima red top ?

Asked by: Miraj Patel - 11/28/2021

A: The Optima Red Top is a cranking battery only, so you can certainly use their Group 25 in the cranking battery position in our kit. You'll likely want a deep cycle battery as your accessory battery.

Q: Does adding this void any of the factory warranty on the Tundra?

Asked by: D - 11/24/2021

A: Installation of the kit should not have any effect on the factory warranty. You can reference the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act if necessary. They cannot deny the warranty work unless they can prove the cause of whatever failure was the dual battery kit itself.

Asked by: Troy Rudisill - 10/22/2021

A: This kit requires two Group 25 batteries. As Optima does not make a Group 25 Yellow Top, the closest would be their Group 75/25. We cannot guarantee that these will fit without some modification to the lid, as they are not the correct group size.

Q: Have you received any feedback on the newly redesigned batter tray for the Tundra system? I want to purchase one of these, but I am still on the fence due to some issues I have read about with the tray and nut-serts. cracking the fender sheet metal. Does the fuse box also still need to be relocated for a 2018 with LED headlamps? Thank you! MS

Asked by: Mattsmit0179 - 8/2/2021

A: The redesign was launched based on less than 10 customers reporting a failure across three applications over three years and thousands of installations. While the issue isn't insignificant, it is extremely rare and incredibly unlikely. However, we do take customer feedback seriously and acted quickly to introduce a redesigned tray that addressed the concerns. As of today, we have had no reports of any issues with the new tray, and next month we're coming on the one-year anniversary of launching the new kit.

We do recommened relocating the fuse box regardless of the trim level of the truck. It is always best to have as much room as possible to get the best location for your tray.

Q: Is there a recommended alternator to work with this system? I've heard of people getting beefier alternators when they upgrade to a dual battery system

Asked by: Shane Keyser - 7/19/2021

A: Upgrading your alternator is not necessary, but some folks do decide to go that route. There isn't a brand we recommend over any other, but keep in mind the smart isolator has a rating of 200A continuous with up to 750A for 30 seconds. Most alternators don't put out their maximum advertised rating all the time, so check the output curve to be sure it will work within those constraints.

Q: Hi, Can I incorporate a solar system on my roof rack in conjunction with a dual battery system. I would like to charge the accessory battery while parked for extended periods to constantly power a refrigerator and camp LED lighting after dark. Any assistance with this idea is greatly appreciated. Thank you, Andrew

Asked by: Andrew - 2/24/2021

A: You can connect the solar charge controller directly to our power and ground bus bars. The solar charge will go into your aux battery first to replace the power used by your accessories. As long as the panel is big enough to keep up with the demand and charge up the battery, then our smart isolator will link them together, and the solar will flow over to the cranking battery as well.

Q: I have a 2000 watt amp in my truck and when turned up it can cause my battery to go down, headlights to dim, and system to clip. Would this set up help?

Asked by: Colton - 1/13/2021

A: While this setup does add battery capacity, it is not designed to solve the problem you've described. You'll need to research and install at least one capacitor. Capacitors store electricity as instant power available for your amplifier. If the amplifier draws more current than is available from the electrical system directly, the capacitor covers the difference up to its stored capacity. The battery is not overloaded and the car voltage remains steady.

Q: Looking to run your system with an AGM starting battery (red top) as primary and a deep cycle as secondary. The Yellow Top Optima is listed as group 75/25. Is this the proper yellowtop?

Asked by: WAX - 12/26/2020

A: The Optima Red Top is a cranking battery, so it is not recommended to use as a deep cycle accessory battery. It will fit our tray and lots of customers use it in the cranking battery position. The Yellow Top 75/25 will not fit without removing some of the material on the lid. The battery posts are set more toward the center of the battery than other standard Group 25 batteries.

Q: Looking into buying this for my 2007 that will then be moved to a 2018 here soon. I see that smart isolator handles "all charging functions" what does this mean for alternator? I assume stock alternator can not handle this, is there any recommendations on high output alternator that can handle this system?

Asked by: Jake Mickelson - 7/14/2020

A: There is no need to change your alternator due to adding this system.

Q: Is the power from the accessory battery bus bar constant or ignition power? Is it able to run an inverter or fridge?

Asked by: Vin - 7/8/2020

A: The busbars are constantly powered. Our system is designed mainly to power accessories with the vehicle off, so you won't have any issues running your fridge or inverter when the vehicle is not running.

Q: Would this fit in a 2007 Toyota Sequoia SR5 4x4

Asked by: Magdalena - 6/30/2020

A: Unfortunately no. We have had a few customers test fit the Tundra kit into the Sequoia, and it's just a little too tight to fit 2 batteries in there. We will try to get a Sequoia in the shop to see what we can come up with at some point.

Q: I know it says 2 "identical" batteries, but can the aux battery be a deep cycle? I want to power a fridge and some lights on the aux, but from prior vehicles with dual batts, the aux was a deep cycle. I don't know if I'm taking "identical" too literally when they just have to be in the same group. TIA

Asked by: JOn - 5/26/2020

A: Identical as in same BCI Group and chemically identical. You can run one deep cycle and one starting battery, but they would both need to be AGM for example. A lot of customers will run one Optima Red Top alongside an Optima Yellow Top.

Q: I would like this set up for my Tundra truck. Would my Optima 35 Yellowtop fit okay? Sorry, not too savvy. I'm aware this is for a size 25; however, I'm fine with some variance. Thanks!

Asked by: Karen - 3/1/2020

A: This kit will not work with the Group 35 batteries. While the dimensions are the same, the terminals are in the opposite configuration from the Group 25.

Q: Toyota Tundra 2007+ Dual Battery Kit How tight does this fit against the main fuse box. I currently have an air compressor mount installed and it sits over the fuse box. It also mounts to the holes the fuse box uses.

Asked by: Brian Savoir - 2/11/2020

A: The battery tray installs almost touching the fuse box. Step 7 in the installation instructions below show the front of the fuse box lining up with the battery tray.

Q: I have accessories (lights, winch)wired into the factory battery. Does the dual battery setup include instruction on how to wire in accessories?

Asked by: Timothy Hanson - 2/10/2020

A: Any aftermarket accessories that need direct battery power can go to the power & ground bus bars built into the kit. Your high amp accessories like a winch or air compressor can go onto the tall center studs, and any lower amp accessories like LED lights etc can attach to any of the 8 small screws around the circle.

Q: I have a factory volt gauge on my 2008 tundra. Does this setup interfere with it? And will it read in the normal operating range?

Asked by: Timothy Hanson - 2/6/2020

A: Our dual battery system will not interfere with your Tundra's factory voltmeter. Since the two batteries are connected in parallel, our system appears as one 12V battery to the alternator and charging system. Everything will function as it does from the factory as far as your readings are concerned.

Answers to frequently asked questions:

How can I hook up solar panels?

Most people want to use solar panels to be able to run their accessories for as long as possible with the engine off. You can connect the solar charge controller directly to our power and ground bus bars. The solar charge will go into your aux battery first to replace the power used by your accessories. As long as the panel is big enough to keep up with the demand and charge up the battery, then our smart isolator will link them together, and the solar will flow over to the cranking battery as well.

How do I connect a trickle charger to keep both batteries charged?

You can connect a charger to your factory positive wire on the cranking battery and the factory negative wire on the aux battery. This way the trickle charger works just like your alternator - it will charge the cranking battery first for a couple minutes, then the smart isolator links the batteries together to charge the aux battery as well.

The red light on top of my isolator stays on all the time. Is something wrong?

The red LED light is a status indicator. On means the batteries are fully charged and they are connected together. Off means they are below 12.7v and the isolator has separated the batteries to protect your cranking battery from being drained by your aftermarket accessories.

My isolator gets warm / hot / very hot. Is something wrong?

It is perfectly normal for your isolator to get hot. It can get up to 140 degrees, even with the engine turned off, which is way too hot to touch with your hand, but not nearly hot enough to hurt anything around it. This is a normal characteristic of any electromechanical solenoid device.

I left my headlights/radio/dome lights turned on, and now the engine won't crank. I thought the system would turn off the cranking battery to protect it from getting too low.

The factory positive wire harness feeds power directly to your fuse box, which means all of the factory circuits are powered from your cranking battery. The isolator does not turn off power to the fuse box. It 'isolates' the 2 batteries from each other, to protect your cranking battery from being drained by your aftermarket accessories that you have wired up to the bus bars. If you accidentally drain your cranking battery, that's when you'd use the boost button to jump start yourself from the second battery.

My factory post clamps won't get tight enough on the battery post. It is loose and causing weird electrical issues.

The factory battery post clamps are made of light duty stamped sheetmetal, and are easy to damage. First, make sure the post clamp is fully seated all the way to the bottom of the battery post. Try loosing up the post clamp nut so it is very loose, then use a large socket and gently tap the clamp down onto the post. Now tighten the clamp nut and see if it is secure. You can also try using a battery post shim, available from your local auto parts store, to fill the gap between the clamp and the post, allowing the clamp to tighten down more securely.

Do I need an sPOD, or is it unnecessary since the kit has the power and ground bus bars for hooking up my accessories?

The sPOD system from www.4x4spod.com is a great compliment to our dual battery system. It allows you to easy add electrical accessories that need a fuse, relay, and a switch. It does have limitations, however, with the amount of current that can be used through any one switch. For example, you can't control a winch with it due to the very high amp draw for the winch. Our bus bars are perfect for connecting accessories that need direct battery power, or for those that come with a wire harness that includes a fuse, relay, and switch.

How do I connect an sPOD system to the dual battery kit?

The sPOD source unit should be connected directly to our power and ground bus bars. For the best connection, we recommend using a larger ring terminal on the positive lead so that it can be connected to the large center stud on the power bus bar. The sPOD's negative lead should fit the center stud on the negative bus bar.

The sPOD is turning off my accessories. Did I hook it up incorrectly?

The sPOD has a low voltage monitor that will automatically shut circuits down to avoid draining your battery too much. When adding an sPOD to our dual battery kit, we recommend you pull out the 2 amp fuse inside the Source box. It is the only 2 amp fuse you'll see when you remove the cover. This will disable its low voltage cutoff system. Since you have 2 batteries, and since our smart isolator will already protect your cranking battery from getting drained, you probably don't care if your accessory battery gets drained down all the way. That's why you have 2 batteries in the first place!

Is it ok to use my favorite brand of batteries, or are the Full River and Odyssey batteries the only choice?

Any Group 25 battery will work in our tray. That refers to the physical size of the battery. We offer Full River and Odyssey batteries through our website as a convenience for people who want to have everything delivered to their doorstep, rather than having to go to the store to buy them and pay sales tax, and have to carry 2 heavy batteries home to be installed.
